The fourth annual Opera al Fresco features operatic performances by local singers, combined with great food, wine, and the opportunity to stroll through the gardens south of Edmonton.
The event is a joint fundraiser for the Edmonton Opera and Devonian Botanic Garden, and will feature performances by soloists Robert Clark (who will sing the role of Narraboth in Salome in October 2013), Bertrand Malo, Cara Brown (who sang the role of the High Priestess in Aida in October 2012), Zoryana Orlova and members of the Edmonton Opera chorus.
Gates Open: 6:30 pm
Welcome Reception: 6:30 pm - 7 pm
Performances: 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Tickets for this popular event sold out last year, as it attracts opera lovers who attend the mainstage performances, as well as arts enthusiasts who enjoy the combination of nature and opera.
Tickets: $49/Adult $20/Child, available in advance only.
Ticket price includes admission to the Garden, performances, refreshments and hors d'oeuvres.

PARKING: Once the Garden’s parking lot is full patrons will be directed to an overflow lot located at 1 Athabasca Avenue (Devon Shopping Centre – map on reverse). There will be a complimentary shuttle bus to and from the Garden, starting at 6:00 pm. A number of parking spots will be reserved at the Garden for guests with mobility issues. If you require the use of one of these spaces, please call 780.429.1000 as soon as possible and provide your first and last name so we can reserve parking at the Devonian.
Wear comfortable shoes and clothing and come prepared with insect repellent and an umbrella.
After a welcome reception and performance, there will be repeating performances taking place simultaneously in three different gardens. Patrons will start at different points in the circuit (like a golf tournament), and move from one garden to the next between performances. Your starting point will be assigned to you upon arrival. Staff will be onsite to guide you to your next performance garden.
At the welcome reception and performance, seating will only be available for elderly or disabled guests; seating for all guests will be provided at all other performance locations.
Your ticket purchase includes hors d'oeuvres served at all performance locations during the event. We will be selling drink tickets to be redeemed for wine (please bring cash as there is no ATM on site). Water stations will be located at all performance locations. The Birch Patio on-site concession will be open until 10 pm.
Rain Policy: Opera al Fresco is an outdoor event. Every effort will be made to continue with the show during rain. There will be no refunds if extreme weather causes a cancellation. On event day, check the Edmonton Opera website www.edmontonopera.com for up to date information.
